LEAD HILL JUMPSTART PROGRAM ARKANSAS COUNSELING ASSOCIATES SCHOOL BASED MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM
Hello Parents and Teachers!
The Lead Hill Jumpstart Program is a behavioral and emotional health counseling program that gives students the tools and support they need to be successful in their everyday lives. Jumpstart places emphasis on early identification, with a focus on promoting regular school attendance and academic success. Depending on the needs of the students, an array of "Pullout" interventions are available, including initial assessment and diagnosis, one-on-one therapeutic counseling, group therapy, case management services, physician, and psychiatric services. Depending on the needs of the students, higher levels of care are also available such as referrals for psychological testing and in crisis situations, immediate help for your child at the nearest crisis intervention facility. Jumpstart serves students with a variety of needs including (but not limited to) adjustment issues, anxiety, mild to severe depression, anger, sexual and/or physical abuse, divorce reaction, grief, attention and focus issues, hyperactivity and/or impulsivity, oppositional defiance, self-esteem issues, family problems, and crisis intervention. The referral process into the Jumpstart Classroom is a very basic one. If you have a child whom you believe would be a good candidate for the Jumpstart Program, please contact the child's Principal or Counselor. If your child qualifies for services, you will be contacted as soon as possible by a Jumpstart Staff Member. Some symptoms to look for in students who may qualify for services may include (but are not limited to) depressed mood, social withdrawal, low energy levels, constant fatigue throughout much of day, known history of abuse or personal or family trauma, panic attacks, anxious behaviors, constant irritability, anger outbursts, temper tantrums, low self-esteem, self-injurious behaviors, attachment issues, bingeing or purging, makes threats to self or others, defiance, hyperactivity, impulsivity, distractibility, inattentiveness or lack of focus, disrespect, physical or verbal aggression, lying/manipulative behaviors, and/or any type of prolonged abnormal behavior. If you are unsure about a child's behavior and would like to visit with us concerning that behavior, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Lead Hill Public School. Dr. Byron Dickinson will be the Therapist serving the Lead Hill Public School District. Ladonna Ritter will be assisting Dr. Byron, while serving as Case Manager. Jane Henley will be serving as our Jumpstart Tech, in which she will be assisting the Jumpstart Staff and also assisting Jumpstart Students' needs. We are very excited to be a part of the Lead Hill Public School System and are looking forward to a great year! Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything we can do!
